These prevent wobbling or slipping and thus enable precise drilling in various materials. Precision engineers and model makers, in particular, consider these drills indispensable. Since they are permanently mounted, bench drills are only suitable for stationary use.

Column drilling machine

The pillar drilling machine is a sturdy and reliable machine that is usually permanently installed in workshops. It basically consists of a base, a column, a drilling table and a drilling spindle. The drilling table is adjustable along the column and offers options for workpiece attachment as well as workpiece displacement. This ensures precise positioning and handling of the workpiece during drilling. The drilling spindle is a central element of every pillar drilling machine. Its speed can be continuously adjusted or adapted via a gearbox. A Morse taper is usually used for the tool holder. A machine vice can be used to secure the workpieces, which ensures that the workpiece remains fixed and stable during the drilling process. Power is transmitted within the machine by a gearbox, which transfers motor power to the drill quill, drill spindle and drill chuck. When operating the machine, the drilling quill can be moved downward either manually by a hand rim or by a mechanical drive. Some models of the pillar drilling machine even offer the possibility of automatic feed, which can be adjusted via the gearbox.

With regard to the field of application, the pillar drilling machine is mainly suitable for small to medium-sized workpieces.
