Scraper

The scraper is a historically old woodworking tool that is now part of modern craft equipment and can be found in many toolboxes. The scraper is extremely versatile and can compete with many modern tools or is even much better suited for some tasks. Scrapers are primarily used when working with wood or soft metals to efficiently smooth their surfaces. They work similarly to a plane by cutting off protruding wood fibers. This makes the scraper the ideal tool for surface finishing and external shaping of workpieces made of wood.

Removal or cleaning of varnish or coatings

Scrapers can also be used very well for cleaning wooden surfaces. Coatings or deposits can be very precisely processed with scraper blades and removed millimeter by millimeter.

However, scraper blades are particularly suitable for hard woods. With softer woods, there is a risk of the blade being pressed or pulled into the surface. This can lead to damage.
Accordingly, scraper blades can also be used very well for processing metal alloys or metal surfaces. Note: In order for scraper blades to always work efficiently and precisely, they must be sharpened regularly and properly.
