Chisel & Mortise

pfeil chisel

Chisels and gouges belong to the group of chisels and differ mainly in size. What unites all chisels is their indispensability in the precise execution of woodwork. When it comes to making mortise and tenon joints or cutting a clean and straight groove, gouges are irreplaceable. Fine grooves are usually made by hand. When working with higher resistance, such as when cutting out deeper sections, the chisel is used in combination with a mallet. A mallet is a wooden hammer that applies damped blows to the handle of the chisel.

pfeil chisels are characterized by their high quality. They are made of K 510 steel, a chrome-vanadium alloyed cold work steel hardened to 60° Rockwell. This steel is particularly tough and reliable. The blades of the chisels are sharpened and polished for precise cuts. Depending on the model, the pfeil chisels are equipped with octagonal handles made of oiled hornbeam, elm or acacia wood.
